PHONE AND VIDEO REMOTE INTERPRETERS (DOVI)
What is DOVI?
Dialog One Virtual Identity (DOVI) is the interpreter app that gives you access to on-demand qualified human interpreters either over the phone or by video remote.
Why am I having audio issues with my iPhone speaker volume during my conference call with the interpreter?
To prevent audio issues when performing calls via mobile device, we recommend using a headset (no speakerphone.)
When encountering audio issues, here are a few things to check.
1. Does their mic work? Right-click the volume icon on the taskbar and select Sounds. Look for green bars rising in the Recording tab as you speak into your microphone. If the bars are moving, your mic is working.
2. The most common reason we see calls not connecting is microphone and camera permissions aren’t enabled in the browser. Based on your initial request, it seems as if permissions are allowed. However, it is worth checking the correct microphone/speaker is allowed. To check this: select the three dots in the top right >> Settings >> Security and Privacy (on the left) >> Site Settings >> Scroll down and select Microphone. From the microphone settings, confirm the correct mic is selected.
Does Dialog One have enough staff to service a conference and meet all the on-demand needs?
Dialog One works with an extensive network of interpreters and backstop Partners across the U.S. to ensure we meet our customers’ on-demand needs for interpreters, document translation, and localization services. Our cooperative approach allows us to work with over 3k multilingual agents nationwide. Dialog One puts its best effort into evaluating and hiring the best talent available in market to provide on-demand phone/video interpreter support for all languages to our customers. Dialog One reserves the right to change and update the list of supported languages for our phone/video services at any time.
How do we know English learners parents wouldn't use the Direct Connect for other personal use? Would they have a code to use?
The parent/guardian calling will not have access to redirect the call anywhere other than the interpreter and the connected receptionist at your facility. DOVI automatically makes the connection. There is no code required, and the caller has only one shot at accessing the school’s receptionist or auto-attendant. A scripted message in their native language will be played for the caller while they wait to connect to a live interpreter.
How to add another party to an audio/video call?
Let the interpreter know you’re adding another party when the Call connects. Click the plus sign (+) in the top right of the caller.
Audio calls: this will open a dial pad. Enter the phone number and click Call. Repeat if you’re adding 2 lines. You can use this feature to dial into a Zoom meeting.
Video call: click the plus sign and choose from the menu
1. Dial for Audio – opens a dial pad as described in the audio option above.
2. Share by email – generates an email invitation (in your default email client) to join the V.R.I. session. Enter a recipient and send. The recipient can join from any computer or phone without downloading any software. (when used in the browser, we recommend using Google Chrome or Firefox)
If they join from their computer/phone, they can join by audio or video. The webpage provides a phone number in case their computer doesn’t have speakers or a microphone. However, when they join, you must let them in the session.
3.Share link to call – This option copies a link to your clipboard. Message or email this URL to a participant, so they can join from their computer or phone.
Be sure to admit them to the Call once they join – you will be prompted to admit them in the video window. If necessary, the interpreter can also admit them. The platform can support audio or video conferences for up to four participants. This all takes place seamlessly in the web or mobile app, and call logs and rates reflect any parties added to calls.(when used in web browser, we recommend to use Google Chrome or Firefox)
